NEWS FROM THE Y

Get into the swim of things!

Swim Lessons

YMCA swim classes focus on developing coordination, endurance, and self-confidence in swimmers of all ages. Classes will include flotation devices as needed and be conducted by a YMCA trained instructor. Swim lessons include:

  • Parent/Child Interactive Classes (ages 3 months to 3 years)
  • Preschool Lessons (ages 3-6)
  • Progressive Swim Lessons (ages 6-teen)
  • Adult Lessons

Class registration is limited to six children per instructor for pre-school lessons and eight participants per instructor for progressive lessons.  Please register early.  All classes fill up quickly and have an enrollment limit. Parents are permitted to stay on deck and observe lessons on the first and last day of each session.  During the remainder of the session, parents are asked to wait in the lobby so that the children may give their full attention to the instructor.

Aqua Fitness

Water fitness is a great way to condition the body. The water provides a natural resistance and less impact on the joints.  Our aquatics department works hard to provide a variety of programs and techniques not only to benefit the body, but to stimulate the mind, wash away stress and rejuvenate the spirit. Aqua fitness classes include:
  • Water Walking
  • Deep Water Arthritis
  • Joyful Joints
  • Aqua Aerobics
  • Water Boot Camps
